Christ the Servant: The Vocation
of Deacons

In this NEW five-part series, Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers examines the true nature and character of the diaconate, which is not defined by what a deacon does, but by who the deacon is. He is nothing less than a sacramental sign of the Church in the world and a consecrated, visible witness to the Kingdom of God manifested in Christ the Servant.

EWTN's Vatican Report

This EWTN Original Production presents interviews, reports and feature stories from the Vatican. Includes an update on the beatification process for Pope Pius XII; an interview with Cardinal Peter Turkson, the newly appointed director of the Pontifical Council of Justice and Peace; a visit to a recent sacred art exhibition dedicated to the Saints of Rome with Elizabeth Lev; and a tour of the Scala Santa with Joan Lewis.
A Hidden Jewel: The Diocesan Museum in Venice

This museum houses a wealth of treasures from the Church, including sacred liturgical articles, artwork and silverwork. The museum is housed in a former 12th-Century Benedictine church cloister, first named after St. Scholastica, and later St. Appolonia. Although it was started by a decree by Cardinal Luciani (later Pope John Paul I), the decree was not implemented until 1980.

September 19, 2010 The Holy Father's visit to the United Kingdom will center on the theme, "Cor ad Cor loquitur" ("Heart Speaks to Heart"), the theme Newman chose for his coat of arms in 1879 when he became a Cardinal. During this visit, the Pope will beatify Cardinal Newman. |
